In an interview with Bernard Ourghanlian from Microsoft France revealed that there are plans to come out with Microsoft Windows XP SP3. The service pack is planned for release after the release of Windows Vista and there is a slight hint that the new service pack may bring some features of Windows Vista back.
“There will be a Service Pack 3 for Windows XP,” Bernard Ourghanlian, technical and security director at Microsoft France, confirmed, revealing that Microsoft’s OS is set for another major update.
This may be a very interesting business opportunity for a lot of you out there in the IT world. If the XP SP3 is as big of a hassle as SP2 was, then there may be a business case for going to the new operating system outright as labor rates may overshadow the upgrade license fee for something that will be neccessary at some point.
In a very humorous note, the CNet site where this article was actually published had a snappy comment: “I thought Vista was the SP3” 😉 Made my day.
