Article on tar-pitting and back-scatter

I just finished writing a slightly longer article about the principles of tar-pitting and back-scatter over on the Own Web Now Blog.

December is traditionally the lowest SPAM month of the year for us. As people leave their offices and spend less time on non-deadline-driven projects the amount of junk mail goes down as well. So if there ever was a time to do mail server maintenance, December would be it.
